Omaha is home to more than 100 schools and several school districts. Most Nebraska school calendars are traditional, and run from Fall, through Winter, to Spring, with Summer vacation starting in either May or June. But each school district sets slightly different dates for the first day of school, for school breaks and vacations, and for the last day of school before summer break.
We’ve gathered a list of all the public school districts in Omaha and provided a link to their calendars. Plus we’ve added the dates from the biggest area school districts here for your convenience.

These are the start dates for the largest school districts in the Omaha Metro for 2024-2025.
- Bellevue Public Schools: Starts Aug. 8, 2024
- Council Bluffs Public Schools: Starts Aug. 23, 2024
- Elkhorn Public Schools: Starts Aug. 13, 2024

- Omaha Public Schools: Staggered start. Aug. 14, 2024 for kindergarten and entry-level grades in middle school and high school. Aug. 15, 2024 for all other K-12 students. Aug. 21, 2024 for pre-K students.
