There is no shortage of fun things to do for Halloween in Omaha — I have a whole blog post with a complete list of Halloween events in Omaha, after all. But sorting through all of it is tough if all you want to know about are the free trunk or treats or other kid-friendly free events. So, I’ve saved you the time and gathered all the free Halloween trick-or-treat (or trunk or treat) events in Omaha for 2023 into one list. Enjoy!

Outdoor Trunk or Treats

Omaha Trunk or Treats & Free Outdoor Events For Kids

  • Trunk or Treat at Project Upstream, 2226 N St., on Oct. 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will also be carnival games. FREE
  • Trunk or Treat at Sarpy YMCA, 1111 E. First St., Papillion, Neb., on Oct. 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. FREE
  • Stony Brook Church Trunk or Treat is Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 14345 Y St. There will also be a neon maze and games. FREE
  • Omaha BMX’s trunk or treat, costume cotest and glow ride on Oct. 27 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Hefflinger Park at 111th and Maple streets. All are welcome. FREE
  • The annual Trunk or Treat in Farnam Hill will be held outdoors by Zen Coffee Co., 2504 Farnam St., on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids are invited to dress in costumes and trick-or-treat, play games and enjoy face painting. There will also be local vendors selling products and food. FREE
  • The SAL-oween Party and Trunk or Treat is at American Legion Post No. 1, 7811 Davenport St., on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. FREE
  • Bridge Church’s Junk in the Trunk is Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Conestoga Magnet Elementary School, 2115 Burdette St. There will be costume contests, music, food, skate fest, and a bounce house. FREE
  • Fish Fin-atics, 2709 W. Broadway, Council Bluffs, Iowa, will have a trunk or treat and pumpkin carving contest (carve them at home and bring them with you) on Oct. 28 at noon. Prizes will be awarded. FREE
  • The National Association of Women in Construction will hold a trunk or treat on Oct. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at MCC North Omaha Campus, 5300 N. 30th St., Lot A-1. There will also be games. FREE
  • Trick or treat at participating Dundee neighborhood merchants on Oct. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. FREE
  • Trunk or Treat at Sherwood Plaza on Kanesville Boulevard in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Oct. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be free bags for the first 400 kids. There will also be a bounce house. FREE
  • St. Mark Baptist Church Trunk or Treat is Oct. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot at 3616 Spaulding St. There will be music and games. FREE
  • Boo Bash Oct. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Church, 848 Gold Coast Road, Papillion, Neb. FREE
  • Omaha Church of Christ will have games and a trunk or treat on Oct. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1920 Robertson St. FREE
  • Annual Women of St. Patrick’s Trunk or Treat is Oct. 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the St. Pat’s parking lot at 20500 W. Maple Road, Elkhorn, Neb. FREE
  • Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 20844 Bonanza Blvd., Elkhorn, hosts a trunk or treat on Oct. 29 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the upper parking lot. FREE
  • Trunk or Treat at Sakoon The Spa’s lot, 1529 S. 203rd St., on Oct. 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. FREE
  • Luther Memorial’s Trunk or Treat is Oct. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. at 1031 Sunset Trail. There will also be games and refreshments. FREE
  • Trunk or Treat Fall Festival in the park lot of First United Methodist Church, 7020 Cass St., Omaha, is Oct. 29 from 3 to 6 p.m. There will be music, games, a bounce house, costume contest, craft room, photo booth, Pumpkin Bowling, a karaoke booth and much much more! FREE
  • St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church’s Trunk or Treat and Chili Cookoff is Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. at 925 S. 84th St. FREE
  • Trunk or Treat at Northwest Hills Church, 9334 Fort St., on Oct. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the back parking lot. There will be soup and candy. FREE
  • Trick or Treat on the Historic 100 Block in Council Bluffs on Oct. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. The 100 Block of West Broadway will be closed to traffic during the event. FREE
  • River of Life Trunk or Treat is Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in their parking lot at 5151 Northwest Radial Highway. FREE
  • Holy Cross Lutheran Church’s annual parking lot trunk or treat is Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 4117 Terrace Drive. FREE
  • Trunk or Treat at Southwest Church of Christ, 2600 S. 124th St., on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. FREE

Note: The Halloween Hoopla at Shadow Lake Towne Center has been replaced with Fall Fest on Oct. 29.

Indoor Trick or Treats

Free Indoor Events & Trick-Or-Treating For Kids

  • Radical Minds’ Indoor Trunk or Treat is Oct. 27 at 4:30 p.m. at 13322 I St. It will be peanut-free. FREE
  • Trick or Treating at The Hoff is Oct. 27 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center, 1001 S. Sixth St., Council Bluffs, Iowa. FREE
  • Spooky Station Halloween Bash is Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Union Pacific Railroad Museum, 200 Pearl St., Council Bluffs. Trick or treat (non-food items) in the museum, plus crafts and sidewalk decorating. FREE
  • There will be indoor trick-or-treating at the Highpoint Church gym, 1502 Ave. E, Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Oct. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be bounce houses and games, as well as a hot dog dinner. FREE
  • Ponca Hills Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will have Halloween Trick or Treats at the Station on Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 12919 Ponca Road. They will also serve hot dogs, apple cider and hot cocoa. FREE
