There is no shortage of fun things to do for Halloween in Omaha — I have a whole blog post with a complete list of Halloween events in Omaha, after all. But sorting through all of it is tough if all you want to know about are the free events. So, I’ve saved you the time and gathered all the free Halloween events in Omaha for 2022 into one list. Enjoy!

Trunk or Treats & Free Outdoor Events For Kids

  • Baseballoween is Oct. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Werner Park, 12356 Ballpark Way, Papillion, Neb.
  • Trunk or Treat Party at Montclair Community Center, 2304 S. 135th Ave., is Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • The Seventh Annual Saloween is Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at VFW Post #2503, 8904 Military Road. Trunk or treat, games and prizes. 
  • The Florentine Players’ Trunk or Treat is Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at Florence City Hall, 2864 State St.
  • Trunk or Treat at F.O.E. Papillion Eagles Club, First and Washington streets, Papillion, Neb., is Oct. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Trunk or Treat at Swimtastic Swim School locations in Oct. 22, including 7051 S. 181st St. from 2 to 4 p.m. and 2920 N. 118th St. from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
  • Harvest Carnival at New Life Fellowship, 1211 N. 24th St., Council Bluffs, Iowa, is Oct. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. Games and trunk-or-treating.
  • Trunk or Treat at Candlewood Church, 5051 F St., is Oct. 22 from 3 to 5 p.m.
  • Halloween Boo Bash is at Village Pointe Shopping Center, 17305 Davenport St., on Oct. 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. and includes rick or treating, special characters, face painting, balloon twisters, gift card giveaways, a flash mob and a parade walk with CureSearch. 
  • Trunk or Treat at Sippin’ Sirens, 4302 S. 42nd St., on Oct. 23 from noon to 4 p.m. Candy plus games to play for prizes. 
  • Trunk or Treat at South O Roofing, 8045 L St., on Oct. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Old Towne Bellevue Trick-or-Treat is Oct. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at participating businesses.
  • Trunk or Treat at Creekside Church, 3320 Harry Langdon Blvd., Council Bluffs, Iowa, is Oct. 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 
  • Halloween Movie Night is Oct. 27 starting at 5:15 p.m. at Highlander Accelerator, 2112 N. 30th St. Includes trick-or-treating and outdoor screening of “Coraline” starts at 6:30 p.m. FREE
  • Westview YMCA Trunk or Treat is Oct. 27 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Westview High School, 15800 Summit Plaza, Bennington, Neb.
  • Fleet Feet and Sonny’s presents Mile & Magic on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. at Aksarben Village, 1905 S. 67h St. Event is a 1-mile fun run followed by a light stretch with Power Life Yoga, snacks and goodies and an outdoor screening of “Hocus Pocus” at Sonny’s, as well as a costume contest. 
  • Sarpy County YMCA Trunk or Treat is Oct. 28 starting at 6 p.m. at 1111 E. First St., Papillion, Neb. FREE, but registration is encouraged.
  • Trunk or Treat at Christ Community Church, 404 S. 108th Ave., on Oct. 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. FREE
  • Trunk or Treat at Priority Family Services at 2612 Bryan Ave., Bellevue, Neb., on Oct. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. 
  • Trunk or Treat at Farnam Hill is Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Zen Coffee Co., 2504 Farnam St. There will be face paining, bounce houses, and games. 
  • Trick-or-Treat at Rockbrook Village, 108th and Center, on Oct. 29 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Chase from “Paw Patrol” will be at the plaza from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and Woody from “Toy Story” from 2:45 3:30 p.m. 
  • Halloween Meet & Treat at Omaha Police Department Southeast Precinct, 25th and Vinton streets, is Oct. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. FREE
  • Junk in the Trunk Family Fun Day is Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at Schenzel Community Center, 2220 N. 20th St. Best costume will win a prize; family costumes are also encouraged. Event is indoors and outdoors. FREE
  • Halloween Bash is Oct. 30 from noon to 5 p.m. at Mexican Snacks with Christian, 1920 S. 44th St. Candy will be handed out, giveaways, music and 15+ small businesses selling products.
  • The Annual Halloween Hoopla is Oct. 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Shadow Lake Towne Center, 72nd Street and Highway 370, Papillion, Neb. Girls Scouts will sell hot cocoa and characters will hand out candy. 
  • Trunk or Treat at St. Patrick’s Parish, 20500 West Maple St., Elkhorn, Neb., on Oct. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Trunk N Treat on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4117 Terrace Drive.

  • Monster Mash Bash is Oct. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oak View Mall, 3001 S. 144th St. Indoor trick-or-treating starts at 5 p.m.
  • Extreme Pumpkin Carving is Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center, 1001 S. Sixth St., Council Bluffs, Iowa.
  • Tricks & Treats at Westwood Plaza is Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at participating stores in Westwood Plaza at 120th Street and West Center Road.
  • Cass Street Trick-r-Treat is Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at Conservatory of Music, Omaha Community Playhouse and Omaha Academy of Ballet, all near 70th and Cass streets.
  • Kids w/ Cuts! Movie Magic & Monsters is Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at at Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center, 1001 S. Sixth St., Council Bluffs, Iowa.
  • Thriller Bash is Oct. 22 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Pear Tree Performing Arts, 4801 Northwest Radial Highway. Games, candy, costumes, and performances. 
  • “Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit” will be screened for free with activities before the show at Film Streams Dundee, 4952 Dodge St., on Oct. 23 starting at 9 a.m. Includes cookies by Carson’s Cookies, popcorn, and games. Movie starts at 10 a.m.
  • Toddler Spooktacular is Oct. 25 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Saddlebrook Community Center, 14850 Laurel Ave. It will include a storybook walk, craft and gym time for kids up to 6 years old.
  • Parent & Tot Fall Party is Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at A.V. Sorensen Community Center, 4808 Cass St. Includes a storytime, crafts, bounce house, and playtime in the gym for kids up to 6 years old.
  • Field of Treats is Oct. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Iowa West Sports Plex, 3260 Mid America Drive, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
  • Trunk or Treat indoors at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, 153 S. McKenna St., Gretna, Neb., on Oct. 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. FREE
  • HalloWeeRead for toddlers and preschooler is Oct. 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Gretna United Methodist Church, 11457 S. 204th St., Gretna, Neb. There will be games and prizes, and a special storytime at 6:30. Costumes encouraged but not required.
  • Trick-or-Treat at Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center, 1001 S. Sixth St., Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Oct. 28 from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as well as Pumpkin Chainsaw Carving from 5 to 6 p.m. and Costume Contest from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Trick or Treat at Hy-Vee at 3410 N. 156th St. and 17810 Welch Plaza on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be cookie decorating and mini pumpkin painting.
  • Halloween Spooktacular at NFM, 700 S. 72nd St. is Oct. 29 from 10 to 3 p.m.
  • Trick or Treat at Edge of the Universe, 6070 N. Maple St., all day on Oct. 30. 
  • An Indoor Trunk-or-Treat is Oct. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 2444 N. Broadway, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Free Halloween Movies

  • Free Friday Movie Nights at Ditmars Orchard & Vineyard, 19475 225th St, Council Bluffs, Iowa, includes Halloween movies starting at dusk. Movies: “Beetlejuice” (Oct. 21), and “Ghostbusters” (Oct. 28).
  • Friday Night movies and events at Edge of the Universe, 6070 N. Maple St., have a spooky theme in October (movie starts at 7 p.m.). Movies include “Rocky Horror Picture Show” (Oct. 21), and “Beetlejuice” (Oct. 28). 
  • Spooktober Movie Mondays at Kinkaider Brewing Co., 2279 S. 67th St., start at 9 p.m. and run through Oct. 31, and include “The Addams Family” (Oct. 24), and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (Oct. 31). 
  • Falconwood Park is showing outdoor Fall Frights movies through Oct. 31. Movies include “Practical Magic” & “The Craft” (Oct. 26), “Get Out” & “Nope” (Oct. 27), “Little Shop of Horrors” & “Rocky Horror Picture Show” (Oct. 28), “Hocus Pocus” & “Blair Witch Project” (Oct. 30), and “Halloween” & “Scream” (Oct. 31).
  • Hocus Pocus Day is Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Edge of the Universe, 6070 N. Maple St. Witchy Treats all day and screenings of the movie (11 a.m. for kids and 7 p.m. for older witches).

Halloween Trivia Nights & Events for Adults

  • Tuesday Night Trivia – Halloween Horror at Edge of the Universe, 6070 N. Maple St., is Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
  • Trucks & Taps Halloween Costume Party is Oct. 22 starting at 8 p.m. at Trucks & Taps, 5402 S. 108th St. Come dressed as something that starts with the first letter of your first name. Contestants check-in starts at 7:30; line up & judging at 8:15. 
  • Pumpkin’ Carving + Art Nite is Oct. 24 starting at 7 p.m. at the Down Under Lounge, 3530 Leavenworth St. Carve or paint pumpkins in addition to the bar’s usual Open Art Nite magic, plus themed drinks and spooky flicks on the big-screen. Starting at 9:30 p.m., event turns to 21+ only.
  • Horror Movie Trivia is Oct. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Backlot Taphouse, 2110 S. 67th St., suite 108. The Top 3 teams will receive prizes courtesy of Backlot Taphouse and Aksarben Cinema.
  • Horror Movie Trivia is Oct. 27 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Red Lion Lounge, 3802 Farnam St. 

Museums with free admission when in costume

  • Hallo-Weekend is all day Oct. 29 and 30 at The Durham Museum, 801 S. 10th St. and kids in costume (ages 12 and under) are admitted FREE.
