The Story Of BLUEBARN Theatre…And A One-Man Dracula Show

I’ve been a vocal fan of BLUEBARN Theatre for years, so it was a no brainer that we’d have an episode with someone from there. Dee and I got the chance to chat with Susan Clement the theater’s producing artistic director and CEO, and Jill Anderson, the director of BLUEBARN’s upcoming production of “Dracula: The Journal of Jonathan Harker.”

If you haven’t BLUEBARN, Susan and Jill will tell you it’s “racy, subversive, counter-cultural.” They told me, it’s been described by Alexander Payne as “subversively cheery.”

The episode is also available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify Podcasts. You can also watch the full episode on Youtube.

Susan and Jill shared the history of BLUEBARN and some insight into the design of their 10th and Pacific street theater. (Hint: It’s amazing and has nods to the past. It’s in the location of one of the restaurants I included in my book, “Lost Restaurants of Omaha.”).

Side note: I talked about a caricature image and if you’re curious of what it looks like, you can see it here. It’s not pretty.
