50 New Omaha Restaurants To Try In 2025

New restaurants open in Omaha every month. Some receive a lot of fanfare, but most fly under the radar. It’s hard to keep track of all of them! So, I’m doing the work for you. To be included in this list of the city’s newest restaurants, the restaurant had to open in 2024 and stay open at the time of this post publishing.

Confessions: I love food, but I don’t go out to eat every night. Shocking, I know. My budget does not allow for it. In the same vein, I’m not one of those foodies goes to the newest restaurant right after it opens, so no, I have not been to every restaurant on this list.

Memoir

But, I’ve been to a few. Memoir was outstanding for food, drink, and decor. It would be the first restaurant I’d recommend to people headed to Downtown Omaha for a night out. It’s managed by the Flagship Restaurant Group, who also opened Clio in 2024.

Clio has been on my to-visit list. I’ve heard great things about the beautifully-decorated Mediterranean restaurant, I just haven’t snagged a reservation far enough in advance. Yet.

New pizza shops & Italian restaurants

Omaha loves its pizza. There were three notable new pizza shops to try. The popular food truck, Izzy’s Pizza Bus, opened a brick and mortar location in May at 522 S. 24th St. In the NoDo area, Dolomiti Pizzeria & Enoteca opened at 1125 N. 13th St. in Millwork Commons. They make wood-fired sourdough pizza.

Grace Pizza & Shakes opened in October in Papillion’s old courthouse. Known for its monster shakes, this pizza shop has locations in Texas and Florida. Over in Iowa, Council Bluffs got a new Italian restaurant. Napoli’s Italian Restaurant opened in September in the city’s historic 100 Block.

Addressed:

  • Izzy’s Pizza, 522 S. 24th St., Omaha, Neb.
  • Dolomiti Pizzeria & Enoteca, 1105 N. 13th St., Omaha, Neb.
  • Grace Pizza & Shakes, 136 North Jefferson St., Papillon, Neb.
  • Napoli’s Italian Restaurant, 157 W. Broadway, Council Bluffs, Iowa

New bakeries, donut shops and sweet spots

The city’s newest sweet spots may be my favorite category. And in 2024, we had a lot of new ice cream, donuts and pastries to choose from. Let’s start with ice cream.

Helados Locos

Helados Locos opened in January in West Omaha. The locally-owned shop is known for their mix-ins. Other ice cream spots to open in 2024 include the Old Market gelato/crepe shop Centi and Betty Rae’s Ice Cream near Aksarben Village. Betty Rae’s has several locations around the Kansas City area; this is the first Nebraska location.

Similar to ice cream, Snowy Sundaes opened in August in Benson. They sell Bingsu, Korean-style shaved ice, as well as other unique treats like croffles and “ice-cool” hotpot desserts.

On to the baked goods. Happy Mango Bakery opened in August in La Vista. The chain Mochinut opened in October in northwest Omaha, selling mochi donuts, a combination of American donuts and Japanese mochi.

Cinnaholic Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls opened its first location in Nebraska in September in Gretna. The chain features a plant-based and dairy-, lactose-, egg- and cholesterol-free cinnamon roll.

A few new cookie shops opened in Omaha, too. The late-night cookie chain, Insomnia Cookies, opened their first Omaha location in March in the Capital District. A second location is opening soon in the Blackstone District. The cookie chain, Dirty Dough Cookies, opened in January in La Vista.

Table Coffee also opened in the Old Market. Don’t let the name fool you, there’s a full menu, beyond coffee shop goodies.

New steakhouses, sports bars and burger spots

Nebraska is beef country, so when a steakhouse opens, everyone takes note. Ruhlman’s Steakhouse opened in September in Ashland. And in November, Legacy Chophouse opened in West Omaha. It’s a classic steakhouse with a salad bar.

For sports bars, there’s now a 30hop in Omaha. This high-end sports bar & grill has locations in Iowa and officially opened its first Nebraska location in December in West Omaha. I tried it out during a soft opening, and was impressed with the local beer menu and brussel sprouts appetizer.

Two new spots opened in the same building in the historic Dundee neighborhood. Ooh de Lally opened at 4916 Underwood Ave. The restaurant is a nonprofit, employing former inmates as an opportunity to train for jobs in food service. In the lower level, La Bo opened, selling small bites and wine.

New vegetarian/vegan restaurants

Addresses:

  • Rooted Table Kitchen, 8705 Shamrock Road, Omaha, Neb.

Barbecue spots

On the other end of the dining spectrum from vegetarian restaurants are the barbecue restaurants. Two opened in the area this past year. Offering up wood-smoked barbecue, Lazy Buffalo BBQ opened in April in the Blackstone District. The BBQ Brothers, a barbecue chain, opened in Council Bluffs, Iowa, this past year, as well.
