Swanson Park

Swanson Park is the definition of a hidden gem — the kind of place moms almost want to keep secret but also want to tell everyone about.

It has a big parking lot (hallelujah), which immediately makes it easier for families hauling snacks, scooters, and possibly a reluctant toddler. The park is surrounded by a woodsy area that gives it a peaceful, tucked-away feel, even though it’s not far from a main road.

There’s a large playground with lots of spinning features — perfect for kids who love things that twirl, spin, and maybe make mom a little dizzy just watching. Swings include two regular, one baby, and even a handicapped swing, making it more inclusive than many parks.

The picnic setup is great, with both standard tables and a huge picnic shelter that’s ideal for gatherings or parties. There’s also tons of grassy space and even a couple of older kickball fields that are perfect for casual play.

It sits right next to a trail system, which is great for biking, running, or walking off snacks. There’s even a port-a-potty — while not glamorous, it’s definitely better than nothing.

Overall, Swanson Park is one of those places that feels easy. Easy parking, easy space, easy fun. It’s a great pick for longer park days or meeting up with other families.
