Description

Leo Royal Park is one of those spots that quietly checks a lot of boxes for a mom trying to juggle fresh air, caffeine, and keeping kids entertained. From her perspective, it’s a solid go-to for a casual park day with a little bit of everything.

The playground itself is simple but surrounded by plenty of open space, including nearby soccer fields that are perfect for kids who need to run off that never-ending energy. There are lots of picnic tables and benches, which makes snack breaks (and bribery breaks) very convenient. Trash cans are also easy to find—something every parent appreciates more than they’d like to admit.

There is a nice cement walking trail nearby, perfect for stroller walks or letting kids ride bikes without worrying about uneven terrain. However, the bathrooms are a bit of a trek, so planning ahead is key (because we all know how urgent those “I have to go NOW” moments can be).

A couple of things to be aware of: the park tends to collect sticks and natural debris, so it’s not always the cleanest play surface. And the tornado sirens nearby? They’re no joke. If one goes off while you’re there, expect startled kids and possibly a quick exit. First time I went there it went off and it was so loud my daughter was very scared. They were just doing routine testing but I would be aware of that.

Overall, Leo Royal Park is a great, low-key option—especially if you pair it with coffee and maybe a bite from one of the nearby restaurants.
