Hawthorne Park
Description
Hawthorn Park is a small neighborhood park with all of the basics, plus some extra features. The equipment is worn in spots, but still functional and provides a variety of options for play. Some maintenance is needed to repair damaged equipment. It’s mostly gravel covering, with some rubber padding near equipment.
Some features of this playground include a several slides (spiral slide, curvy/short slides, straight slides, tunnel slide, bumpy slides), steering wheels, drums and other music features, and a tic tac toe game. The X-Wave play structure is a unique feature, but has experienced a lot of wear and tear. There are a couple swings, including baby swings, traditional swings, one accessible swing. A tunnel was broken and blocked off from use and there was a damaged basketball backboard.
There are several shaded spots at the playground, with tunnels, canopies and some shade underneath. There are also three pavilions with tables underneath.
There aren’t many accessible features for this playground. There is an accessible swing and wide platforms on the equipment.
The playground is convenient for families specifically located near Wood Creek, Dickinson’s Landing, and Hawthorne subdivisions in Millard or near. The walking path surrounding the playground area is lovely and there is ample seating with benches throughout and nicely shaded pavilions with picnic tables.
