Democracy Park
Description
Democracy Park stands out for a few reasons, but the most obvious one is the huge volcano structure in it. It’s climbable (though you cannot go inside it). It’s a larger than average neighborhood playground, with several slides including curvy and racer slides. The cement tunnels to crawl through are another unique feature I don’t see frequently at Omaha playgrounds.
The playground is mostly sand, though there are some rubber padding that makes the swings accessible. There is also one high back swing. Another plus for accessibility is the ramp from the large parking lot to the playground itself.
There’s isn’t much shade at the playground, though it’s right next to Keystone Trail, which is lined with trees in that area. The trail is also a good one for walks and bike rides with your kids.
