Children’s Park

Children’s Park has potential, but it doesn’t seem to be very well maintained. The equipment is great for ages 6 and under, and there is a lot of grassy area to run around. 

The park includes one main play structure, a merry-go-round, and four swings (two baby swings and two traditional swings). The play structure includes a fire pole, a vertical climbing ladder, monkey bars, a bubble panel, a tic-tac-toe interactive panel, two steering wheels, and two slides (one curvy and one straight). 

The equipment is pretty well run-down, definitely chipping paint all over. Play area is nearly all sand, with the exception of a few squares of rubber under the stairs. The sand had a lot of debris (towels, shoes, food).

The playground is not accessible, especially with so much sand. The main equipment has steps or it’s necessary to climb to get on. The only shade is under the pavilion, which offers multiple picnic tables underneath to sit.

There was a lot of debris in the sand left from previous park-goers. The lack of shade and restrooms, and proximity to a major road (72nd St) is off-putting. There is no formal parking lot, and you have to cross a street to get into the park. I would say this park is fair, just below a 3 rating.
