Description

This park in Gretna’s Chesnut Ridge neighborhood has a lot of great play options for different ages. However, parking is limited to the nearby residential streets, so it’s only an ideal play option for those who may live nearby.

The playground has two main play structures with tons of slides, bridges and climbing features. The area for younger kids includes four straight slides and one short, curved slide. There is a unique fish bridge to climb over to get to one of the slides. It has lots of sensory features including megaphones, steering wheels, a bubble and a seat that is low to the ground and shaded under the play structure.

The bigger structure includes a curved slide, spinny slide and short slide along with monkey bars, a pole, narrow bridge and a few other climbing features. There’s a sand play area with a digger, ride on toy, four traditional swings and two baby swings. There’s some cosmetic wear and tear (paint, etc.) but all equipment was in good working order.

There are wide platforms onto main play structure and some low-to-the-ground sensory activities, but otherwise this is not a very accessible playground. It’s mixed ground cover. There are small rocks on one side, and sand on the other side with a little rubber padding leading up to play equipment.

There is one pavilion with a couple of picnic tables but other benches around the playground are not shaded. Some shade trees are around the park,  and parts of the playground equipment offer additional shade underneath.
