Best Restaurant Patios in Kansas City

Whether you’re celebrating something special or just wanting to enjoy a meal al fresco, these four spots have you covered. Each of them offers great food and a beautiful patio to dine on.

While this restaurant is technically a toe over the Kansas State line, it’s so close to the Country Club Plaza that I had to include it. The Restaurant at 1900 features modern American fare with French and Italian influences by Chef Linda Duerr.

The patio was expanded into their parking lot for social distancing and it couldn’t be prettier. And a nice bonus, they have great cocktails.

Fox and Pearl KC is one of my new favorite restaurants in the city. The kitchen uses only an open-fire wood burning hearth to cook all the food. It fills the restaurant and patio with delicious aromas of food and is fun to watch. The patio is a beautifully lit oasis of brick and wood. It definitely needs to be on your list!

3. The Classic Cup

301 W. 47th St., Kansas City, Missouri

You may recall mention of The Classic Cup from the Best Brunch Spots in Kansas City post. They also have two patios, one in the front and a larger one in the back. You can enjoy breakfast, brunch, or lunch sitting under an awning or umbrellas. On a sunny Spring or Summer day, you are likely to wait a bit as it’s the place to be.

4. Gram & Dun

Another spot on the Best Brunch Spot list, Gram & Dun  also has a large patio complete with gas fire heaters. When the weather is nice, the walls of the restaurant open completely to the patio. Sitting right next to Brush Creek, it’s a great spot to unwind over dinner and drinks.

Best Bar Patios in Kansas City

Like any hip town, Kansas City’s beer scene is thriving. With more than 17 breweries listed officially, there are plenty of others right outside KC and a healthy home-brew scene, Kansas City loves its beer. These places offer great selections of their house-brewed beers, while The Well offers beers from across the metro.

7. KC Bier Co.

310 W. 79th St., Kansas City, Missouri

KC Bier Co. made quite the splash in the city when it opened in 2014. They were the first German-style beer brewers in KC. They even serve up wurst and pretzels with imported German cheese sauce. The biergarten is open year-round and they offer discounts based on how cold it is.

Not only is Up-Down Kansas City  a fun place for a date night, the patio is packed as soon as the weather gets nice. It provides some great people watching, open-air space, great beers on tap, and classic arcade games. The people watching is great and games are only $0.25 to play.

Taking up a whole city block, KC Live offers plenty of dining and bar options with a giant open air, heated patio in the middle. People come out other times to watch bands, hang out, and catch smaller games on the big screen as well.

Best Patios in Kansas City for Cocktails

Since I am a cocktail blogger, it’s probably no surprise that having a drink on a patio is one of my favorite things to do. Whether you’re day drinking or closing out an evening, these are a few of my favorite spots.

12. The Monarch Bar

4808 Roanoke Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri

Located on the West end of the Country Club Plaza, you will find one of the most gorgeous cocktail bars in the city. The Monarch Bar is one of my top favorite bars for its drinks and their patio. Hidden from the sidewalk with planters and a sunken feel, you will sip on drinks inspired by the migratory pattern of the Monarch butterfly.

13. SoT

Sitting on top of the Crossroads Hotel, you’ll find the seasonal rooftop bar Percheron with a great 360° view of the city. While the bar is named for the Pabst Brewery horses (the building used to be a brewery), they also serve cocktails. There’s also plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the view.

15. Parker at The Fontaine

901 W. 48th Place, Kansas City, Missouri

Another great hotel bar patio can be found on top of The Fontaine on the Country Club Plaza. Serving cocktails and small plates, the patio hosted outdoor igloos this year that are likely to return in the future. During the warmer months, you can sit under the stars next to the pool.
