The Omaha Dining Digest was created out of a love of good food in Omaha. While I have a place to share family-friendly events happening around the city, I didn’t quite have a place for the food events, the drink events, and the cooking classes (that weren’t for the kiddos). And so, the Omaha Dining Digest was born in 2024.
The Omaha Dining Digest is sent out every Tuesday morning, and consists of upcoming food and drink events, classes, wine dinners, and the like, as well as a weekly theme. The first Tuesday of the month always has dining news such as openings. Area restaurants, cafes, breweries, and the like are invited (and encouraged!) to submit upcoming events and news, as well as participate in the weekly themed section. It’s a great way to entice other food lovers to come visit.

Omaha has long been an innovative restaurant town. And even with troubles and a pandemic in 2020, chefs and entrepreneurs stepped up and opened some incredibly original restaurants and bars. Here’s the list of Omaha’s newest restaurants. New restaurants in Omaha to try first I think I frequented more restaurants in 2020 than in years…
I’ve been dining at Plank Seafood Provisions at 1205 Howard St. since it opened – I made Mr. Wonderful meet for lunch early on since its Old Market location is convenient. Since then, I’ve gone back to kick off a girls’ night out and to have an outdoor lunch with the kids. Disclaimer: Plank Seafood…
My nieces’ and nephews’ go-to birthday celebration restaurant has been Kobe Steakhouse for years. For good reason. First, you get the dinner show. And, you get dessert with a cheesy photo. The place has sentimental value to my family, as well, since my dear deceased nephew, Jon, loved it. It’s our special occasion restaurant. My…
Eat local. Buy local. It’s good to support local businesses. But if you’re a bargain hunter, sometimes the temptation to go to a chain store is pretty big, especially when they’re constantly sending coupons. When Groupon reached out to me to share their new Groupon Coupons site, I didn’t think it’d be a good fit…
On a recent spring afternoon, my kids and I headed to Freddy’s Custard & Steakburgers in Papillion, Neb., for a treat. We had just finished two soccer games and were planning a walk around the trails at Walnut Creek Recreation Area. For a quick but satisfying lunch, this was a great restaurant in Papillion to…
Every year, I do a round-up of new restaurants in Omaha, and in 2025, we had some notable openings, especially if you love steaks. It was a tough year, though, and the region also saw quite a few great restaurants close their doors. But, let’s just focus on the good stuff. These are the new…
