The Primacy of Form
August 10, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
“The Primacy of Form,” a new sculpture by pioneering sculptor Bruce Beasley, will be on display at KANEKO from March 21 through Aug. 16, 2025. Beasley transforms basic geometric shapes into mesmerizing compositions that seem to defy gravity. Working in materials from bronze and granite to Lucite, his sculptures have commanded international attention since his undergraduate years, when the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA) displayed Beasley’s work with Picasso’s and Duchamp’s in a groundbreaking 1961 exhibition. KANEKO’s soaring spaces provide the perfect setting for these sculptures, allowing visitors to appreciate their commanding presence and intricate interplay of form and light.
Through support from MECA/The Riverfront, KANEKO is proud to host exhibitions of each artist featured in the park and to produce public programs providing community access to the artists and their work. Stroll through the Gene Leahy Mall Sculpture Park and see the Beasley work “Aeolis 7.”
