Synopsis: In “The Net Will Appear” by Erin Mallon, a 75-year-old man and a 9-year-old girl meet on adjacent rooftops in Ohio. Bernard wants nothing more than to enjoy his drink and keep to himself, while Rory is determined to connect with the lonely stranger next door. As an unlikely friendship forms between them, the two navigate grief, isolation, and the unexpected ways people can help each other heal. Funny, heartfelt, and deeply human, “The Net Will Appear” is a moving story about connection, hope, and finding light in unexpected places.
