The Lincoln-based Taiko drumming group demonstrates the art of Taiko with a mini-performance before the show.

The group received international acclaim when it became the first American ensemble to win the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest. Since then, it’s wowed audiences at the Academy Awards and the Grammys with its grace, energy and passion.
TAIKOPROJECT was founded in 2000 in Los Angeles, California by a group of young, emerging taiko drummers. They were seeking to create a truly American style of taiko, blending traditional forms in which they were raised, with an innovative and fresh approach to the Japanese drum.
