“Silent Sky”
October 9, 2025 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
UNO Theater is taking over the planetarium to present “Silent Sky” on Oct. 9-12 and 16-19th. Performances are Oct 9 – 11, 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 12 & 19 at 2 p.m.
Synopsis: “Silent Sky” is based on the true story of astronomer Henrietta Swan Leavitt. This play follows her journey in the early 1900s as a “human computer” at Harvard—working behind the scenes, denied access to telescopes, and uncredited for her contributions. She quietly studies Cepheid variable stars, discovering how their brightness changes over time and unlocking a method to measure stellar distances. Beyond science, “Silent Sky” is about sacrifice, relationships, recognition, and the drive to be seen as more than a number: to be known.
