North Omaha Summer Arts Garden Walk

The North Omaha Summer Arts Garden Walk is Aug. 16. Here are the participating locations and activities at each:
- Omaha Public Library Washington Branch, 2868 Ames Ave. / 6220 N. 30th St. – Native Plants Garden Tour, Seed Catalog and book giveaway, Plant Seek and Find for Kids, Quilt Exhibit by Quilters We Are, Quilt Raffle: $1 each or 6 for $5, and Refreshments
- Metropolitan Community College, 5300 N. 30th St. (Fort Omaha–Gardens near Bldg 29) –
The Horticulture program at MCC enhances knowledge of proper plant care, structure and functions while meeting current industry needs and evaluation of environmental impact of choices made. We ask you to join that effort by walking around our various gardens. - Metropolitan Community College, 5300 N. 30th St. (Fort Omaha–Mule Barn–Bldg 21) – “That Which Connects Us….Exhibition,” Refreshments and book giveaways.
- Church of the Resurrection & Incarnation Monastery, 3014 Belvedere Blvd. – Community organizations that will be there include Neale Woods/Fontenelle Forest and The Nature Conservancy, “The Recycled Artwork” exhibit, Prayer garden.
- Lutheran Service Corps, 6220 N. 30th St. – Green Thumb and Nelson Mandela Gardens, City Sprouts, Big garden, Black Chick farm, Healing Roots farm, Wood‘n Bees Urban farm Goods, Land Bank, Soil Solutions, NRCS, Recipes and samples from garden finds.
- No More Empty Pots, 8501 N. 30th St. – Facility Tour & Talk on Other Endeavors in the City (tours begin at 10:30am, 11:30am & 12:30pm including Rooftop Garden), featuring Claire James (@ClaireJamesFlute) and Noah Edwards (Flutist), Refreshments, Book Giveaways and CSA giveaways
- Omaha Public Library Florence Branch, 2920 Bondesson St. – Plant giveaways, Northern Lights Garden Club, Scavenger hunt and more. At 1 p.m., Conversation with Pamela Bergstrom–Agroforestry (Something Old Made New).
- The Florence Mill, 9102 N. 30th St. (I-680 Exit 13) – At 12:30 p.m., explore Omaha’s far north border where a history garden and arboretum is evolving on the grounds surrounding the Florence Mill. Its function is to interpret the 1846 landscape that Mormon pioneers discovered upon arrival on the west banks of the Mo river. Their winter quarters settlement was built on the land of the Otoe/Missouria and Ponca peoples, so it also interprets so it also interprets the flora, shrubs, vines and trees these tribes lived with and used for medicine.
- The Pollinator Garden, just north of 7224 Minne Lusa Blvd.
