Author and journalist Theodore Wheeler discusses the societal and personal factors that helped form his novel in the presentation “Kings of Broken Things: Bystanders, Historical Wounds, and the Omaha Race Riot of 1919.” Wheeler’s book, “Kings of Broken Things,” is an immigrant coming-of-age story set amid the political, economic and racial tensions surrounding the 1919 lynching of Will Brown.
