Japanese Ambiance
October 3 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Celebrate the beauty of autumn and immerse yourself in Japanese culture during the annual Japanese Ambience Festival at Lauritzen Gardens on Oct. 3 and 4. Hosted in partnership with the Omaha Sister Cities Association, the festival honors the longstanding friendship between Omaha and Shizuoka, Japan, marked by the gift of the historic Sunpu Castle Gate. Guests can explore a wide variety of traditional and contemporary Japanese arts, including bonsai and ikebana displays, Japanese calligraphy, origami, and koinobori. Interactive experiences such as children’s crafts, traditional games, and cultural learning sessions offer something for every interest level.
Throughout the weekend, enjoy dynamic performances featuring martial arts demonstrations, and traditional Japanese music and dance, including the Kyoko Taiko drummers. Visitors can also take part in tea ceremonies and tastings, sample Japanese-inspired foods, and learn about Japanese history and language through engaging presentations.
This event is included in paid garden admission and is free for garden members.
