“Entre Flores y Palmas / Between Flowers & Palms”
November 12 @ 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
“Entre Flores y Palmas / Between Flowers & Palms” is on display at El Museo Latino through Feb. 27, 2027. Opening reception is Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The exhibit presents a selection of works that feature photographs, traditional garments, and items related to the crafting of the palmas (ceremonial palm arrangements). The images feature the Cofradías de las Flores y Palmas (the Confraternity of Flowers and Palms) as a form of living heritage – one that is sustained, transmitted, and recreated by the community while highlighting the traditions, identify, and rituals of the town of Panchimalco in El Salvador. This exhibition forms part of the efforts of El Salvador to share their living heritage internationally and offers an opportunity to engage with this tradition by exploring both its creative processes and the people who make it possible.
