Art Walk

April 18 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free
Art Walks are a monthly community meet-up in the Castle & Cathedral District. It’s an initiative supported by the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.

Bring the entire family for an evening out in the Joslyn Castle neighborhood along 40th Street, between Dodge and Cuming streets. District partners Cathedral Arts Project Omaha, Cali Commons, Joslyn Castle & Gardens, and the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association, will open their venues for an evening of art, food, and fun.

Stops:
  • Joslyn Castle & Gardens will host a Vendor’s Fair on the lawn, featuring the work of local and regional artists and crafts-peoples. In addition to the fair, the Castle’s Carriage House will be open for patrons to view “Frida and Diego,” an art show, curated by Opera Omaha. The show is inspired by, and celebrates, Opera Omaha’s performance of “El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego” (“The Last Dream of Frida and Diego”). Dripps BBQ food-truck will be on site for the artwalk.
  • Cathedral Arts Project: In the Sunderland Gallery of the Cultural Center, meet artist Anthony Deon. His imagination is limitless, and he delights in bringing together worlds that would not exist naturally. He describes his exhibit, titled “The Garden of Dhya,” as “a representation of finding peace in meditation… an inter-world filled with greens, flowers, and wildlife all in harmony with each other. A perfect place where my memories and thoughts can live together unprovoked by negative emotions. My protected garden.” The Food-truck Corner Kitchen will be in the Cultural Center parking lot for the event.
  • Cali Commons: The gallery features over a dozen local artists, each with their unique and creative interpretation to the theme: “Spring.” Enjoy a hosted, light reception.
  • Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association: Visit their booth at the Vendor’s Fair (located on the Joslyn Castle). It will feature the work of artists and creatives from the neighborhood.
