If you’re a reader like I am, you have your favorite writers. They might be fiction writers, bloggers, whatever, but you know and love the ones with the voices that speak to you. Danielle Herzog is an Omaha-based writer I’ve known for several years and her humor always struck me as smart. I read what I could of hers. So, when she announced she had written a children’s book, I knew I was going to read it.

“What Are You, Lou?” is Danielle’s first children’s book, and it’s an wholesome and beautifully illustrated picture book. I knew we had to have her on our podcast to talk about writing it, as well as just pick her brain. We talk about her writing, Italian food, and our favorite Omaha bookstores.
The timing our our interview was both good and bad — her book was released on the day of our interview, but she was also about to start chemotherapy treatment. The result was an excellent conversation, though, and I hope you enjoy listening to it!
The episode is also available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify Podcasts.
