Shopper’s Guide To Nebraska Crossing Outlets

There’s nothing like a good outlet mall to make you take the next exit off the interstate. Nebraska Crossing Outlets is the kind of retail expanse you notice right away. Located on Interstate 80 between Omaha and Lincoln, this outlet mall combines high-end retailers with locally-owned restaurants for well-rounded day shopping.

What makes Nebraska Crossing Outlet Mall unique

First off, Nebraska doesn’t really have outlet malls. This is it, folks. The state’s only outlet mall is Nebraska Crossing Outlet in Gretna. It’s located conveniently off of Interstate 80 and draws in travelers and residents from nearby towns and cities.

There are more than 70 stores at this outdoor mall, as well as a handful of fast casual restaurants — some chains and some local. I think Nebraska Crossing sets itself apart from other outlet malls because of its local restaurant offerings. Voodoo Tacos and B&G Tasty Treats alone are worth stopping to try!

If you have kids along with you, there are a few playscapes outdoors, not really playgrounds, but cute climbing areas over turf. One has sports-themed climbables and another is a tractor. There’s also a small soccer field next to the Adidas store (ask for a ball to borrow in the store).

Getting There

Nebraska Crossing Outlets is located at 21209 Nebraska Crossing Drive, Gretna, Neb., just off Interstate 80. It’s easy drive from the state’s two largest metro areas, Lincoln and Omaha – approximately 20 miles from Omaha and 30 miles from Lincoln.

There is ample parking at the outlet mall, and parking is free.

Shopping at the Gretna Outlet Mall

Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll likely find it in Gretna. Nebraska Crossing Outlets has plenty of apparel shops, as well as home goods, sporting goods, and specialty chocolate. The mall is open seven days a week. Occasionally, restaurants and stores may have different hours of operation.

What are the best stores to check out at Nebraska Crossing?

There have been a few stores at Nebraska Crossing Outlets that stirred up excitement when they were announced, with the most recent addition being REI Coop. It’s the brand’s only location in Nebraska. They do a good job of localizing the store, too. There are nods to nearby trails, and REI also partners with local nonprofits.

Some of the luxury brands at the mall are also notable. Brands include Kate Spade, COACH, Tory Burch, Cole Haan, and Michael Koss.

Luxury brands aside, there’s a cute boutique called Scarlet Highway that’s full of gifts and apparel. I like how some items are Nebraska-centric. This may be one of the few stores in this outlet mall where you can get a souvenir-type gift.

Directory of Stores

Many stores offer discounts, including military discounts. Download the Nebraska Crossing app to see what special promotions are currently available. Stores that are straight-up outlet stores at this mall include Express Outlet, Johnston Murphy Outlet, Lucky Brand Outlet, Ann Taylor Outlet, and Claire’s Outlet.

Nebraska Crossing Outlets is for the fashion-centric crowd, for sure, but there are also stores that cater to other interests from hiking and sailing to skateboarding and ranch life.

Dining Options at Nebraska Crossing Outlets

Omaha foodies will recognize a few restaurant names at the outlet mall, as several Omaha eateries have opened satellite locations there. Voodoo Taco and Dragon Wok Express are two local restaurants that are open at the outlets.

Two local restaurants opening soon: B&G Tasty Foods and Frank’s Pizzeria. B&G is known for its loose meat sandwiches and malts. Frank’s Pizzeria serves up some of the tastiest New York-style pizza in the Omaha metro.

There are several casual chain eateries at Nebraska Crossing Outlets. For snacks, there’s Auntie Anne’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Lindt Chocolate, Planet Smoothie, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and Scooter’s Coffee. For something more substantial, try Pepperjax Grill.

It’s worth noting that Scooter’s Coffee and Pepperjax Grill got their start in Omaha, and now have expanded into impressive regional chains.

There are a few motels near Nebraska Crossing Outlets, but if you want slightly nicer option with, perhaps, a pool, check out these hotels that are about 10 miles or less from Gretna:

Things To Do Nearby

While you’re in the area, you can do a number of other things besides shopping and eating. Gretna attractions include the beautiful Holy Family Shrine and the seasonal favorite, Vala’s Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard (though if you go to Vala’s you’ll be doing a whole lot of eating).

You could spend an entire day at Nebraska Crossing Outlets, and if you still had the energy left, visiting nearby attractions. There’s a good reason this outlet mall is among the top outlet centers in the Midwest.
