Fontenelle Forest partners with the Omaha Astronomical Society to bring Stargazing Events that include a brief night hike followed by viewing constellations and stars with scopes. \nCost is $15 for Fontenelle Forest members and $25 for non-members. SUMMARY:Geminid Meteor Shower Viewing
DESCRIPTION:Experience the thrill of watching the Geminid Meteor shower at Neale Woods. This annual meteor shower is renowned for being a product of an asteroid. The event will begin with a brief evening hike on dirt-packed trails through the prairie and forest. Then as night falls\, the group will stargaze together and watch for shooting stars while learning about meteor showers and general astronomy. \nDress appropriately for the weather\, wear good walking shoes\, and bring a water bottle. If the weather is acceptable\, please bring a folding chair to sit on while stargazing and be ready to hike a short distance on easy to moderate terrain with your chair to the meteor shower viewing area. \nEvent is through Fontenelle Forest\, and members receive discounted tickets to the event ($5 tickets instead of $15).
