SUMMARY:"Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Bluebeard's Castle"
DESCRIPTION:“Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and Bluebeard’s Castle” features both the Omaha Symphony and Opera Omaha on April 24 & 25. \n\n\n\nFirst\, experience “Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.” It’s not just one of the most famous works in the classical repertoire\, it’s one of the most famous works in the world. Beginning with four of the most recognizable notes in history\, Beethoven crafts a musical universe of tension\, drama\, and ultimate triumph. From its thunderous opening to its blazing finale\, the Fifth is a symphonic journey through adversity\, brimming with emotional intensity and spirit.  \n\n\n\nNext\, bask in the one-act opera\, “Bluebeard’s Castle\,” where every shadow hides a secret\, and every door unlocks a new terror. Bartók’s psychological thriller unfolds as Judith\, newly wed to the enigmatic Duke Bluebeard\, dares to open his castle’s forbidden doors. The walls close in and the air grows thick with dread as each turn of a key draws her closer to a horrifying secret. With a score that raises the tension with every note\, “Bluebeard’s Castle” is not just an opera\, it is a musical descent into madness.  \n\n\n\nRussian-American conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya takes the baton for both pieces\, with acclaimed singers Ryan McKinny and Michelle DeYoung delivering a “Bluebeard” set with immersive projections by David Murakami.

SUMMARY:National Geographic Live: Discovering The Galapagos
DESCRIPTION:The Galapagos sparked our understanding of evolution and adaptation 175 years ago. Now\, with marine ecologist and National Geographic Explorer Alex Hearn as an expert guide\, discover the Galapagos anew as we go on assignment to explore the groundbreaking science that’s happening with Darwin’s finches\, giant tortoises\, marine iguanas\, and other remarkable wildlife on these islands.  \n\n\n\nThis National Geographic Live is a journey through the remarkable natural history of the Galapagos Islands\, beginning with Charles Darwin’s arrival on September 15\, 1835\, aboard the HMS Beagle. His observations of the islands’ unique\, untouched ecosystems laid the foundation for his theory of evolution\, and the islands remain a true evolutionary wonderland\, where each island is home to distinct species that have evolved in isolation\, untouched by humanity. \n\n\n\nAlex Hearn is a marine ecologist who studies whale shark migrations around the Galapagos Islands. Hearn is a professor at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and the Galapagos Science Center. He is also a founding member of the regional research network MigraMar and was named co-champion of the Mission Blue Galapagos Hope Spot in 2020.

In Japan\, there is a popular style of comedy known as batsu game (罰ゲーム). In it\, comedians compete against each other in all kinds of challenges and suffer hilarious punishments if they fail!  \n\n\n\nWatch four American comedy warriors face off in challenges as they battle for comedic glory and honor in this Japanese comedy style. Those who win avoid comedic consequences\, while those who lose are subjected to electric shocks\, paintballs\, a giant egg-smashing chicken\, and many more jaw-dropping punishments!  \n\n\n\nBATSU! brings the best improv comics together in this head-to-head battle. Only one winner can come out on top. Who will have the honor of striking the “Gong of Punishment?” \n\n\n\nThis is an all-ages show.
