SUMMARY:Ezra Masch's "VOLUMES"
DESCRIPTION:Ezra Masch’s “VOLUMES” is an immersive audio-visual performance that reimagines the relationship between sound\, light\, and architecture. The exhibit runs through May 3. Note: The Bemis Center stays open late on Thursdays (until 9 p.m.). \n\n\n\nAbout the exhibition: Through collaborations with musicians\, Masch expands the possibilities of performance by making sound visible and space audible. Each iteration of “VOLUMES” is unique\, shaped by the interplay of musician\, instrument\, and environment\, and no two experiences are ever the same. What emerges is a living system of exchange between sound and light\, artist and collaborator\, audience and architecture\, that underscores how art can transform perception and create shared moments of discovery. \n\n\n\nMonthly performances will feature a dynamic lineup of musicians\, including: \n\n\n\n\nNationally recognized musician George Burton will perform on February 20\n\n\n\nOmaha-based Phill Smith on March 28 during Bemis Center’s Open House / Open Studios event\n\n\n\nDrummer Mark Guiliana performing during the exhibition’s closing weekend on May 2

SUMMARY:"Close to the Clouds: Encountering Digital Diasporas"
DESCRIPTION:“Close to the Clouds: Encountering Digital Diasporas” features Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme\, Zainab Aliyu\, Rindon Johnson\, Lauren Lee McCarthy and Kyle McDonald\, Rebeca Romero\, and Tianyi Sun and Fiel Guhit – who consider how the formation of collective identities takes place utilizing technology and the internet. The exhibit runs through May 3. Note: The Bemis Center stays open late on Thursdays (until 9 p.m.). \n\n\n\nAbout the exhibition: The artists in “Close to the Clouds” use multiple approaches to expand the idea of “digital diasporas”—their works are invitations to oscillate between the physical and the digital\, through durational mediums and a poetic interpretation of time. They consider how media and communications shape our sense of self as we move through various places. Across the exhibition one will encounter various sites from the site-specificity of Omaha\, Nebraska to airports\, islands\, and ruins afar\, ranging from real to immaterial spaces. By way of ancestral mythologies\, current memories\, augmented inner monologues\, and imagined futures\, the artists bring us closer to understanding how technological clouds affect our interpersonal relationships.
