Lift\, launch\, and levitate your way through hands-on exhibits to explore how things move by land\, sea\, and air. Experiment with hands-on exhibits that make learning about gravity\, friction\, and the laws of motion fun! \n\n\n\nVisitors can launch a colorful hot air balloon\, operate an authentic canal lock system to move a boat from one water level to the next and experiment with pneumatics\, pulleys\, hydraulics\, and levers to see what kind of mechanical advantage works best. One hundred feet of Air Tubes allow visitors to send colored balls in a rushing channel of air from one station to another. Visitors can watch the balls as they dart across walls\, over their heads\, and appear at the other station in record time.

During the late 19th century\, Reed dedicated himself to acquiring original manuscripts and official papers tied to the Signers of the Declaration. Upon his death in 1891\, he bequeathed his collection to the City of Omaha. Today\, this collection is held by The Durham Museum\, standing as one ofNebraska’s most significant historical assets.  \n\n\n\nThe exhibition features 49 original documents\, including personal letters\, land grants\, and official papers that offer a glimpse into the lives of the Signers before\, during\, and after the Revolutionary War. Beyond the documents themselves\, guests will discover the story of Byron Reed\, whose personal passion for collecting transformed a private pursuit into a vital public legacy and resource.

Her exhibition in the CAP Gallery centers on a recording she discovered on a doorbell security camera. In the short black-and-white video\, the artist’s father is seen removing helium balloons from the trunk of a car. As he wrangles the inflatables – a gift for the artist’s mother – a single heart-shaped balloon floats away without his notice\, prompting a bewildered search of the vehicle. Upon reviewing the footage\, Barnette recognized that an easily overlooked episode had many stories to tell about gestures of affection\, about bearing witness to everyday life\, and about the transformation of a fleeting moment into the stuff of family lore.

DESCRIPTION:Winterland\, the free outdoor ice skating rink\, returns in 2026. Ice skating will be available each Friday\, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 22\, when the rink transitions to a daily schedule. Skating sessions run 90 minutes. Guests can reserve a free session up to two weeks in advance of their visit. A limited number of walk-up spots will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Winterland will return to a weekend schedule in January and is anticipated to close for the season on Jan. 18\, 2027. \n\n\n\nEvents: \n\n\n\n\nOpening Skate on Halloween from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 31\, capped off with aMovies on Ice screening of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” at 8 p.m.\n\n\n\nNovember Movies on Ice – Skate around a giant outdoor movie screen or watch from the sidelines.
