SUMMARY:"The American Revolution Experience"
DESCRIPTION:The Durham Museum is collaborating with the Omaha\, Major Issac Sadler-La Belle Vue\, and Mary Katharine Goddard Chapters\, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to host the traveling panel exhibit\, “The American Revolution Experience\,” from June 28 through July 20. It is focused on the lives of patriots and loyalists\, men and women\, Black and Indigenous as the country approaches the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. \n\n\n\nTensions mounted in the 1770s and the colonies were on the cusp of declaring independence from the British crown. Citizens were faced with important questions. What were they willing to risk in the pursuit of liberty? Would they remain loyal to the crown and face conflict with friends and family? The experiences of individuals who faced these very concerns and made different choices are detailed in The American Revolution Experience. Discover the stories of profiled individuals within the 12 panels and three interactive kiosks that include biographies\, context on the Revolutionary War and places tied to these individuals. \n\n\n\nThere will be exhibit programs on Sundays\, June 29\, July 6\, 13 & 20 from noon to 4 p.m. Dressed in period costumes\, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution will be on hand\, plus there will be a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a fun prize.

SUMMARY:Appliqué Sur Le Terrain
DESCRIPTION:In the installation “Appliqué sur le terrain\,” Henry Payer views the cultural landscape of present-day Nebraska through the vibrant lens of Indigenous ribbonwork appliqué. The installation is on view through Sept. 4\, 2025.  \n “Appliqué sur le terrain” involves sewing layers of silk ribbons\, cotton\, wool\, and glass beads to make regalia for special occasions. The distinctive symmetrical patterns reflect kinship\, ecological knowledge\, and oral histories of various Indigenous communities.  \nInspired by The Joslyn’s collection of Karl Bodmer watercolors\, Payer created eight appliqué collages that layer Missouri River landscapes\, calico fabric\, and texts about the colonization of the region. He hand-stitched the designs in the Ho-Chunk appliqué style\, called zeenįba hirarucak. Each floral and geometric pattern references historical examples created by Umónhon\, Ponca\, Ho-Chunk\, Pawnee\, Ioway\, and Otoe-Missouria women\, honoring the legacy of artists whose names were not documented. As part of this collaborative project\, contemporary artists have generously shared their appliqué stories and regalia. \nNote: The museum is open until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursdays.

SUMMARY:Summer Melodramas At Mahoney
DESCRIPTION:Popcorn Productions\, LLC and Eugene T. Mahoney State Park present three melodramas this summer: “Peril of the Storm\,” “Baron’s Revenge” and “Troll of Trafalgar.” Performances take place at the Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theatre inside the park. For tickets\, call (402) 944-2957. \n\n\n\nSynopsis: “Peril of the Storm\,” by D. ChapelleWally Wessel was once an inept small town mayor who grew up to be a totally inept governor! On a dark and stormy night Governor Wally Wessel and his bodyguard\, Trooper Duper take refuge at Moldmaster Manor\, a spooky old house inhabited by wealthy Mordred Moldmaster\, his daughter Amberleigh\, Mordred’s evil brother Cringe and Cringe’s scheming wife Ophelia. The governor and Trooper Duper are seeking shelter from a deadly storm but are unaware that they are in more danger within than without. Mordred has disinherited Cringe and Ophelia\, leaving all of his vast fortune to daughter Amberleigh. Cringe and his wife Ophelia will do anything\, yes anything\, to gain control of the estate\, including disposing of the Governor\, Mordred\, Amberleigh\, Duper or anybody else foolish enough to stand in their way! \n\n\n\n“Baron’s Revenge\,” by D. ChapelleThe great great great grand-nephew of the infamous Doctor Frankenstein has grown tired of his colleagues and the scornful public at large. In his insane desire for revenge\, and with the assistance of his evil assistant Rogi\, he has stitched together a new monster\, one who will wreak Frankenstein’s vengeance upon the world. Will Frankenstein’s beautiful financee\, Emma Wright become entangled in the evil? Will the law of the land\, Constable Von Constable\, be able to stop the doctor before the monster is unleashed? There is only one person who is strong enough (or handsome enough) to thwart… The Baron’s revenge!!! \n\n\n\n“Troll of Trafalgar\,” by D. ChapelleA priceless artifact known as the golden Troll of Trafalgar has been lost for over one hundred years. The previous rumored owners have all fallen victim to horrible ends. Now the Troll has fallen into the unsuspecting hands of Michelle McGee\, the demure niece of the notorious horrible gangster Shorty McGee. Spooked by a notorious gangster\, horrible Harry Rattbender is after the statue and will stop at nothing to steal it away. Michelle’s aunt Minnie is beside herself and no one but even she can be tempted by the untold wealth the Troll would bring. Is handyman Billy there to fix what is broken\, or fix him up for a life of leisure? Can the dashing archaeologist Dr. Dashiell Diamond save the girl from the clutches of the greed surrounding her or will The Troll of Trafalgar claim another victim? \n\n\n\nPerformance Schedule \n\n\n\n\nMay 23 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nMay 24 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nMay 25 – 3:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nMay 27 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nMay 28 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nMay 30 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nMay 31 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJune 1 – 3:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJune 3 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 4 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJune 6 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 7 – 3:00 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJune 8 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJune 10 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 11 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJune 13 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 14 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJune 15 – 3:00 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJune 17 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 18 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJune 20 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJune 21 – 5:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 22 – 3:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 24 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJune 25 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJune 27 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJune 28 – 5:00 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJune 29 – 3:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJuly 1 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJuly 2 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJuly 5 – 3:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 6 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJuly 8 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJuly 9 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 11 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJuly 12 – 5:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 13 – 3:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 15 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJuly 16 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 18 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJuly 19 – 3:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 20 – 5:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJuly 22 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 23 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 25 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJuly 26 – 5:00 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nJuly 27 – 3:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nJuly 29 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nJuly 30 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nAug. 1 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nAug. 2 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nAug. 3 – 3:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nAug. 5 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nAug. 6 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nAug. 7 – 3:00 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nAug. 8 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nAug. 10 – 3:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nAug. 12 – 5:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nAug. 13 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nAug. 14 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nAug. 16 – 5:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nAug. 17 – 3:00 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nAug. 19 – 7:30 PM The Baron’s Revenge\n\n\n\nAug. 20 – 7:30 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nAug. 22 – 3:00 PM Peril of the Storm\n\n\n\nAug. 23 – 7:30 PM Troll of Trafalgar\n\n\n\nAug. 24 – 3:00 PM The Baron’s Revenge
