SUMMARY:A Doll's House
DESCRIPTION:Brigit Saint Brigit Theater Co. presents “A Doll’s House” May 29\, 30\, 31\, June 2\, 3\, 5\, 6\, and 7 at the Joslyn Castle Carriage House. A Doll’s House is a play of unravelling: an unravelling marriage\, unravelling roles\, unravelling visions of self for everyone.  When a woman–or man–wears a mask\, can the face really grow to fit it (as Orwell suggests)?  Does one love the mask of the partner\, the person behind it\, or a combination of the two? Where does the heart figure into all this? And the soul? \nTickets are $35 for general admission and $30 for students/seniors/military.

SUMMARY:Two Volcanoes
DESCRIPTION:The Union for Contemporary Art will display London-based artist Alicia Reyes McNamara’s “Two volcanoes grow together\, two rivers lay side by side\,” an investigation into the queering of Mexican and Irish folklore and rituals in which beings and landscapes mutate and shapeshift\, creating a personal imaginary in forms of embodiment. The collection of dream-like paintings reimagines femme centered folklore and reclaims these stories and explores these deities as independent\, self-possessed beings who have the potential to transcend their own definition and acquire a new life or meaning. \nReyes McNamara writes: “I hope to transport the viewer into an unfixed amorphous world of shapeshifting feminine energy\, and they be both curious and uneasy.” \nThe exhibit is on display May 4 through June 22. The opening reception is May 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; at noon\, Reyes McNamara will join us in conversation on the themes of her collection. \nCo-Op + Gallery Hours\nTuesday\n1–8pm \nWednesday\n1–8pm \nThursday\n1–8pm \nFriday\n10am–5pm \nSaturday\n10am–5pm
