Little Saplings\, a monthly program designed for children ages 2 – 5 and their adult caregiver\, will bring nature themes to life for your child through story time\, sensory activities\, crafts\, and outdoor exploration!\nThe series is held on the first Wednesday of every month from 9 to 10 a.m. or 10 to 11 a.m.\n \n2025 Schedule:\n\nFeb. 5 – Great Backyard Bird Count\nMarch 5 – Animal Detectives\nApril 2 – Rabbits\nMay 7 – Oak Trees\nJune 4 – Fireflies\n\n \nThe cost to participate is $4 per child and $5 per adult per program and includes admission to the Education Center after the program; pay at the front desk upon arrival. Schramm Family Pass members participate free. No park permit is required in the center’s parking lot.

DESCRIPTION:On Thursday evenings from the spring (around April or May) through the late fall (usually until Halloween)\, Council Bluffs and Omaha cyclists meet at Iowa West Foundation Trailhead Park and head off on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail on a 20-mile round-trip ride for tacos and drinks at Tobey Jack’s Mineola Steak House. There is a stopping point midway\, nicknamed Margaritaville. \nThe Taco Ride is a weekly event during most of the year\, weather permitting. Trail pass is required. Annual trail passes are $20.
