DESCRIPTION:Hitch Hikes are designed to introduce visitors to Hitchcock Nature Center as well as the Loess Hills. The series begins with a moderate-level hike and will get progressively more challenging as they build up to more difficult and longer hikes in the fall. Pre-registration is not required for this event\, although free-will donations will be accepted and used to fund additional free and low-cost public programming at county parks. Hikes are included with the $5 park entry or a park membership. \nWeather permitting. Please meet us at the Loess Hills Lodge. Well-behaved dogs are permitted to accompany their owners but must be leashed at all times. Water bottles\, bug spray\, & sunblock are all recommended. Please dress for the weather & wear appropriate footwear. \n2023 Hitch Hike Series \nMay 16 – A the guided hike through a section of the Loess Hills to the McIntosh Pioneer Cemetery\, founded in 1874. DESCRIPTION:Joslyn Castle & Gardens and the Omaha Public Library hold story time at the castle on the third Monday of the month from May to September. A youth librarian from Omaha Public Library reading classic fairy tales from around the globe. After story time\, kids will reenact the tales using costumes\, props\, and the castle gardens as our land of imagination. Stories are best suited for ages 2 to 8. Wear good shoes and bring a blanket. In the case of inclement weather or heat advisories\, story time will move inside the castle or Carriage House.
