SUMMARY:“The Wiz Broadway”
DESCRIPTION:Omaha Performing Arts presents “The Wiz Broadway” at the Orpheum Theater from Nov. 18-23. Performances are Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m.\, Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m.\, and Sunday at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $43. \n\n\n\nSynopsis: This all-new Broadway tour is the first one in 40 years. This groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway—from its iconic score packed with soul\, gospel\, rock\, and 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world. \n\n\n\nWith direction by Schele Williams (“The Notebook\,” revival of Disney’s “Aida”)\, choreography by JaQuel Knight (Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies\,” Black Is King) and additional material by Tony-nominated and Emmy-nominated writer and TV host Amber Ruffin (“The Amber Ruffin Show\,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers”)\, this dynamite infusion of ballet\, jazz\, and modern pop brings a whole new groove to easing on down the road.

SUMMARY:"Momotaro: The Peach Boy of Japan"
DESCRIPTION:Circle Theater presents “Momotaro: The Peach Boy of Japan” Nov. 22 and 23. \n\n\n\nSynopsis: Momotaro is a beloved Japanese folktale about a boy who is miraculously born from a giant peach. An elderly\, childless couple discovers the peach floating down the river\, and when they try to eat it\, it splits open to reveal a baby boy inside. They name him Momotaro\, meaning “Peach Boy\,” and raise him as their own. As he grows up\, Momotaro becomes strong and brave. When he learns about a band of ogres who are terrorizing nearby villages\, he sets out on a journey to defeat them. Along the way\, he befriends a dog\, a monkey\, and a pheasant by offering them delicious millet dumplings and they join him on his quest. Together\, they travel to Oni Island\, work as a team to outsmart and defeat the ogres\, and return home victorious\, bringing back treasure and peace to the land. The story is narrated in the traditional clown style by beloved Japanese figures\, with iconic tricksters bringing chaos and cleverness along the way.
