SUMMARY:Making Clouds
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to touch a cloud? You can make this happen by making your own cloud from a cup of water! Participants will quickly cool down the trillions and trillions of molecules of water vapor above a cup of water with dry ice. The dry ice sinks in the water and transforms from the solid state to the vapor state\, making lots of bubbles. These bubbles are filled with very\, very cold gas and cool the water vapor above the warm water. The cooled water vapor will transform into trillions of tiny water droplets\, and you will see the magic of cloud formation. Once the water droplets warm up and transform back to vapor\, the cloud disappears. Touch your cloud and take photos while the cloud lasts! \n\n\n\nIncluded with museum admission.

SUMMARY:BioDiscovery Lab: Bio-Ink
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to be a scientist AND an artist! In this workshop\, you’ll meet a special soil bacteria called Streptomyces that makes a super cool color-changing pigment. Your mission? Use water and a set of tools to figure out how to pull the color out of the bacteria’s jelly-like home. Once you’ve cracked the code\, the real fun begins! You’ll mix and experiment in test tubes to see the color shift and change right before your eyes. Then you’ll use your very own “bacteria ink” to paint a one-of-a-kind masterpiece to take home.  \n\n\n\nThis workshop is part of the BioDiscovery Lab series from Kiewit Luminarium and Metropolitan Community College(opens in a new tab). These hands-on workshops explore the exciting world of biotechnology. Biotechnology uses living organisms to create products that benefit health\, agriculture\, and the environment. Blending biology\, design\, and technology\, this activity sparks curiosity and creativity in STEM.  \n\n\n\nIncluded with admission.
