SUMMARY:Stargazing at Neale Woods
DESCRIPTION:Can you find Orion in the night sky? What about Taurus? Perseus? Forget the Big Dipper and head out to Neale Woods to enjoy some January constellations during a night of stargazing. \n\n\n\nThis Fontenelle Forest event will begin with a brief evening hike on dirt-packed trails through the prairie and forest as conditions allow. Then as night falls\, watch for stars together while learning about seasonal constellations and general astronomy from seasoned volunteer\, Bob Fuchs. \n\n\n\nMake sure to dress appropriately for the weather\, wear good walking shoes\, and bring a water bottle. Bring a folding chair or blanket to sit on while stargazing and be ready to hike a short distance on easy to moderate terrain with your chair to the stargazing area. \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Winterland Ice Skating at Heartwood Park runs from Nov. 1 through Feb. 1\, 2026. Ice skating and skate rentals are free\, courtesy of Applied Underwriters. Visitors can view the schedule and reserve their 90-minute skating sessions now. While reservations are encouraged\, a limited number of walk-ups will be accommodated on a first-come\, first-served basis.  \n\n\n\nWinterland\n\n\n\nWinterland at Heartwood Preserve will once again be set against a backdrop of holiday decorations and festive music\, and on weekends\, a local coffee truck will be onsite serving up seasonal beverages and treats to help guests stay warm between laps on the ice. \n\n\n\nFrom Nov. 1-23 and Jan. 9-Feb. 1\, it’s weekend-only skating on Friday\, Saturday and Sunday. From Nov. 28-Jan. 4\, ice skating will be open daily.
