SUMMARY:Hitch Hike
DESCRIPTION:Hitch Hikes are designed to introduce visitors to Hitchcock Nature Center as well as the Loess Hills. The series begins with a moderate-level hike and will get progressively more challenging as they build up to more difficult and longer hikes in the fall. Pre-registration is not required for this event\, although free-will donations will be accepted and used to fund additional free and low-cost public programming at county parks. Hikes are included with the $5 park entry or a park membership. \nWeather permitting. Please meet us at the Loess Hills Lodge. Well-behaved dogs are permitted to accompany their owners but must be leashed at all times. Water bottles\, bug spray\, & sunblock are all recommended. Please dress for the weather & wear appropriate footwear. \n2023 Hitch Hike Series \nMay 16 – A the guided hike through a section of the Loess Hills to the McIntosh Pioneer Cemetery\, founded in 1874. Enjoy dinner\, take a hayrack ride around Pelican Wetlands and Crane Meadows\, play tree-themed games\, roast some marshmallows\, and experience the great outdoors.  Everyone will receive a treat bag for coming.
