SUMMARY:Winterland Ice Skating
DESCRIPTION:Winterland Ice Skating at Heartwood Park runs from Nov. 1 through Feb. 1\, 2026. Ice skating and skate rentals are free\, courtesy of Applied Underwriters. Visitors can view the schedule and reserve their 90-minute skating sessions now. While reservations are encouraged\, a limited number of walk-ups will be accommodated on a first-come\, first-served basis.  \n\n\n\nWinterland\n\n\n\nWinterland at Heartwood Preserve will once again be set against a backdrop of holiday decorations and festive music\, and on weekends\, a local coffee truck will be onsite serving up seasonal beverages and treats to help guests stay warm between laps on the ice. \n\n\n\nFrom Nov. 1-23 and Jan. 9-Feb. 1\, it’s weekend-only skating on Friday\, Saturday and Sunday. From Nov. 28-Jan. 4\, ice skating will be open daily. Winterland will have the following events: \n\n\n\n\nNov. 15 – Movies on Ice featuring “The Grinch” at 8 p.m.\n\n\n\nNov. 22 – Movies on Ice featuring “The Nightmare Before Christmas” at 8 p.m.\n\n\n\nNov. 29 – Movies on Ice featuring “A Christmas Story” at 8 p.m.\n\n\n\nVisits with Santa (Photos with Santa on Dec. 13\, 14\, 20 and 21 from noon to 4 p.m. Santa will be in a heated tent)\n\n\n\nChanukah Skate Night (Dec. 16 from 4-8 p.m. featuring kosher treats and crafts under a heated tent\, and the lighting of an Ice Menorah that will be sculpted live\, during the event.)\n\n\n\n\nHoliday Hours: \n\n\n\n\nThanksgiving Day: Closed\n\n\n\nChristmas Eve: 12-5:30 pm\n\n\n\nChristmas Day: 4-9:30 pm\n\n\n\nNew Year’s Eve: 12-5:30 pm\n\n\n\nNew Year’s Day: 12-9:30 pm\n\n\n\nMLK Day: 12-7:30 pm

Then as night falls\, watch for stars together while learning about seasonal constellations and general astronomy. \n\n\n\nMake sure to dress appropriately for the weather\, wear good walking shoes\, and bring a water bottle. SUMMARY:Winter Birding Walk
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the birds who brave the winters at Fontenelle Forest. Bring your binoculars (or borrow a pair from Fontenelle) and learn about some of the forest’s seven species of woodpeckers. Search for splashes of color from cardinals or nuthatches! This hike will largely stick to the boardwalk and focus on identifying birds that inhabit the forest during winter. This program is recommended for people ages 12+.
