A conversation with Raiefa and her twin daughters\, Alsafa and Almarwa\, will begin at 6:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nMore than a decade ago\, Raiefa and her family were displaced from their home in Syria. Her daughters went on to wrestle collegiately and were among the first athletes to wrestle wearing hijab in Omaha. The evening will recognize the family’s strength\, kindness\, dignity and resilience. \n\n\n\nThe conversation will explore life in Syria and the food and traditions the family brought with them\, growing up Syrian in Omaha\, and the overlapping identities people navigate in sports. The family will share the experiences they choose to bring to the discussion. \n\n\n\nRaiefa will prepare and share Syrian dishes\, offering guests a taste of food connected to home\, family and belonging. Tickets are $40\, and space is limited. Drinks are available for purchase separately. All proceeds from food sales will go directly to the family.
