DESCRIPTION:Omaha Symphony presents “Beethoven’s First Symphony” at Witherspoon Hall inside Joslyn Art Museum. It’s a symphony of soloists\, beginning with Wagner’s tender “Siegfried Idyll\,” written for his wife in honor of the birth of their son. Stravinsky takes to the Baroque with Dumbarton Oaks\, imbibing the concerto grosso genre with his 20th century panache. Finally\, Music Director of the Ann Arbor Symphony Earl Lee takes on Beethoven’s bold First Symphony\, showcasing the composer’s brilliance from the very beginning.  \n\n\n\nNote: Kids ages 5 and under are not permitted at the concert.

SUMMARY:Save Ferris
DESCRIPTION:Save Ferris plays Jan. 16 at the Holland Music Club located inside the Holland Performing Arts Center. All ages show. Doors open at 6 p.m. \n\n\n\nFormed in 1995\, Save Ferris remains one of the seminal and most beloved bands from the third wave of ska. Led by frontwoman Monique Powell\, the band boasts high-octane vocals and a powerful ska-pop-punk-rock sound. \n\n\n\nThe band’s name is in reference to the 1986 film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off\,” which inspired many of the youth in the 1990s. Save Ferris did much of the same\, having been formed in Orange County\, California around 1995. The band went on hiatus in 2003 but is back and bigger than ever.
