SUMMARY:"Beyond the Finishing Point"
DESCRIPTION:“Beyond the Finishing Point” showcases Jun Kaneko’s collaborative drawings with 3-year-old Ana Citrin. The exhibit runs through Oct. 8. \n\n\n\nThe collection reveals what happens when mastery meets uninhibited expression. The series emerged from Kaneko’s fundamental artistic question – How do you know when a work is finished? – explored during his tenure as Head of Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art. \n\n\n\nIn this extraordinary partnership\, Ana became the decision-maker\, determining when each drawing was complete. “I made a rule\,” Kaneko explains. “When she said\, ‘new paper\,’ no matter what\, I had to stop and change the paper.” Their Saturday sessions\, spanning over two years\, produced works that bridge disciplined technique and pure creative instinct. The exhibition invites viewers into a meditation on artistic boundaries\, revealing the profound connections that form when an established artist surrenders control to spontaneity and trust.

SUMMARY:Jim Krantz Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:Jim Krantz is returning home to share his new book\, “Frontier\,” published by London-based art publisher GOST. “Frontier” is the culmination of decades of work. More than a collection of photographs\, the work explores Krantz’s evolution as an artist\, tracing his lifelong engagement with the American West in images that feel at once cinematic and deeply personal. \n\n\n\nThe evening will open with a brief talk by Krantz about the making of the book\, followed by a book signing and special round table discussion titled “The Creator\, the Gallerist\, the Collector.” \n\n\n\nCreator Jim Krantz will be joined by Gallerist James Danziger\, founder of the Danziger Gallery in New York City\, and Collector Robert Duncan\, noted collector and supporter of the arts from Lincoln. Their conversation will be moderated by Omaha-based artist Watie White\, whose own work and civic engagement have helped shape the city’s cultural landscape. \n\n\n\nThe trio will explore how art is created\, represented\, and supported — tracing the journey from inspiration to public view. Together\, these perspectives will offer audiences an inside look at the ecosystem that sustains art\, from the spark of vision to its place in galleries and collections. \n\n\n\nThe book talk\, signing\, and round table are free and open to the public.
