How To Get Lion King Discount Tickets

If you haven’t heard, “Disney’s The Lion King” is returning to Omaha in 2020. I saw the Broadway musical the first time the tour came to Omaha and it was jaw-dropping gorgeous. The return engagement will be at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha April 15 through May 10, 2020.

As of March 24, 2020, O-pa had to suspend all performance in April due to crowd restrictions put in place due to COVID-19. That means the performance WILL NOT be in Omaha this spring and Kids’ Night On Broadway WILL NOT occur.

While it is definitely long even by Broadway standards, the show is familiar and fun and great for kids. So, if you want to take the whole family, read on for the discount ticket promo.

Disclosure: I partnered with O-pa for this post so I could share the Kids’ Night On Broadway details with you. I received complimentary passes to the show. All thoughts, opinions and typos are my own.

What’s the show about?

Well, if you’ve seen the movie, then you are pretty familiar with “Disney’s The Lion King.” What I remember most of the show from the first time I saw it was the stunning puppetry. The opening scene is impressive.

Giraffes strut. Birds swoop. Gazelles leap. The entire Serengeti comes to life as never before. And as the music soars, Pride Rock emerges from the mist.

More than 100 million people around the world have experienced the visual artistry, the music and the theatrical storytelling of this Broadway spectacular.

Make a night of it in downtown Omaha

Part of the fun of going to the theater is making it a complete date. I compiled a list of some of my favorite downtown restaurants for families.

Of course, if you’re taking teens, you may be able to broaden the scope of restaurants for your night out, so here’s a complete guide to Old Market restaurants.

About ‘School Of Rock’

Based on the hit film, “School Of Rock” follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who turns a class of straight-A students into grade-A rockers. The movie was funny, so you can bet the Broadway musical of it is, too (plus it has the added feature of including musical theater’s first-ever kids rock band). Plus, it has new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, in addition to the original songs from the movie.

As Vanity Fair puts it: “Fists of all ages shall be pumping!”

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE In Omaha {Giveaway}

The No. 1 PBS Kids TV series, “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” has been made into a popular musical, and the tour has two shows in Omaha. “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE: King For A Day!” will be at the Orpheum Theater on Saturday, March 31, at 2 and 6 p.m.

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Mills Entertainment, producer of the show “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE: King For A Day!” and tickets for the giveaway are provided by Mills Entertainment.

I don’t know about you guys, but my kids watched a whole lot of Daniel Tiger when they were preschoolers. If you’ve never seen it, “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” builds off of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” and uses the same musical strategies to teach socio-emotional lessons to kids ages 2 to 4.

What’s new with Daniel Tiger this year

This isn’t the first time “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE” has been to Omaha (it’s been touring for three years), so this year, it’s an all-new production. Same beloved characters and trolley, new adventure in Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

In “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE: King For A Day!,” Daniel learns just what it takes to be King. And it wouldn’t be Daniel Tiger if there weren’t great lessons for kids, so through music and magical moments, kids learn the valuable lessons of kindness, helping others, and being a friend.

If you’re taking the kids, make a date of it! Here are my favorite places for post-theater treats in Omaha.

What’s “Find Neverland” about?

Directed by visionary Tony®-winner Diane Paulus and based on the critically-acclaimed Academy Award® winning film, “Finding Neverland” tells the incredible story behind one of the world’s most beloved characters: Peter Pan. Playwright J.M. Barrie struggles to find inspiration until he meets four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers.

With a little bit of pixie dust and a lot of faith, Barrie takes this monumental leap, leaving his old world behind for Neverland, where nothing is impossible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever.

The winner of’s Audience Choice Award for Best Musical, this breathtaking smash “captures the kid-at-heart,” says TIME Magazine. Vogue cheers, “It’s a must-see you’ll remember for years to come!”

And when NPR says something is “far and away the best musical of the year!”, as it did for “Finding Neverland,” I’m going to believe it and go see it.
