What is the FEI World Cup Finals?
The FEI World CupTM Finals is an indoor championship held annually among the world’s best horses and athletes. Produced by the Omaha Equestrian Foundation, the FEI World CupTM Finals is Nebraska’s only world championship sporting event. Omaha has hosted this prestigious event only once before, in 2017.
Having watched a similar competition in the past, I can assure you that you don’t have to know a thing about it to appreciate and enjoy the experience. It helps, sure, but you will probably pick up a thing or two while you’re there.
This year, the event will have:
- Elite Jumping, Vaulting and Dressage athletes from multiple countries.
- An homage to the Great Plains horses’ cultural impact by infusing tributes to Native American heritage into educational and entertainment programs with the theme “1723,” developed in partnership with Bluebird Cultural Initiative.
- Feature live demonstrations of award-winning equestrians and engaging educational exhibits, in which more than 4,500 children on free field trips will experience. Add to that more than 100-plus vendors from across the globe — all free to the public.
One of the most amazing competitions to watch is Vaulting. It’s pretty much gymnastics on horseback! There’s music, flashy costumes and meticulous choreography. I’m impressed with any level of competition but can you imagine seeing the best of the best competing? Burlington Capital FEI Vaulting World CupTM Final has never been held in front of a North American audience, until now, until Omaha.
The incredible coordination and strength of the athlete with the teamwork of the horse defies reason. We should all go see it.

My family attended the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM Final and the FEI Dressage World CupTM Final back in 2017, back when the kids were young and didn’t sit still for long. Who am I kidding? They still don’t sit still for long.
But, anyway.
The Dressage competition was something I particularly loved watching. The best I can describe it is that it’s horse dancing. I’m used to simple trail rides with horses following each other in a single file line, so witnessing what horses are capable of doing is awe-inspiring. It’s beautiful to see.

The FEI World CupTM Finals is April 4-8 at the CHI Health Center Omaha. Tickets for single sessions and all-session tickets are available now at TicketMaster.com. All-session packages include admission to either three Dressage sessions, four Jumping sessions or three Vaulting sessions. The only way to watch each discipline’s training session on Tuesday, April 4, is by purchasing an all-session ticket.

Things to do near the CHI Health Center Omaha
The FEI World CupTM Finals is held in downtown Omaha. There are several great restaurants near the CHI Health Center Omaha, if you’re hoping to pair the event with a meal. A few of my recommendations:
- For burgers and craft beer, go to Blatt Beer + Table, 610 N. 12th St. (North Downtown), which has a kid’s menu. Check out this list of other restaurants I recommend for families.
- For pizza, go to Zio’s Pizzeria in the Old Market. Omaha loves pizza, so there are plenty of other pizza options that you can drive to.
- The newest restaurant that has legion’s of fans is the Brazilian steakhouse, Texas de Brazil, and it’s within walking distance of the CHI Health Center Omaha. Reservations are highly recommended.
After you’ve been fed and watched some amazing equestrian completions, I recommend strolling around the Gene Leahy Mall. It’s one of the many free things to do in Downtown Omaha, and if you haven’t seen it since it’s reopened, April will be a good time to go.
