The 10 Top Hotels In Omaha (2022)

Whether you’re looking for a staycation in Omaha option or you’re visiting the city as a tourist or sports fan here for an event, Omaha has several hotels to choose from (hundreds of hotels, actually). But, where should you stay in Omaha — downtown, near the Interstate, or in West Omaha? And which hotels are great for families? I’ve done the research (and stayed at a few) to get you those answers.

Top Omaha Hotels

From familiar hotel chains to charming boutique hotels, here are a few of the best hotels in Omaha.

How did I come up with this list? I used a few sources:

  • Rankings on TripAdvisor
  • Overal guest ratings on Booking.com (location ratings of a hotel are from Booking.com, as well)
  • If the hotel had a pool, that had a little extra weight to the scoring
  • My personal experiences and knowledge of the hotels and neighobrhoods where they're located

FAQs about Omaha hotels

What’s a good hotel near Omaha’s zoo?

Great question. The closest hotel to the zoo is very poorly rated, and the benefit of shaving a few minutes off your travel time is not worth it.

The good thing is that the zoo is located just off Interstate 80, so you don’t have to stay downtown if you don’t want to. In my opinion, your best bet is to either stay in at a hotel in Council Bluffs (look hotels near the convention center or casinos on the west side of the city) and take a very quick drive over the Missouri River to get to the zoo or you can stay in downtown Omaha.

You will get lower rates at the Council Bluffs hotels – averaging around $100 less! – but miss out on the walkability of downtown/Old Market hotels and their proximity to other attractions, restaurants, and shops.

My recommendation: Embassy Suites Old Market, which is located in a primo spot in the Old Market and is a straight shot down 10th Street to the zoo. Pros: Large rooms, complimentary breakfast, excellent location, indoor pool. Cons: Expensive parking)

You could look at hotels in West Omaha, as there are some conveniently near Interstate 80. Still, I’m a fan of staying near all the fun and action of downtown Omaha.

Are there any good homes or condos in downtown Omaha?

I love a good VRBO for vacation, especially if I’m traveling with more than one family or planning on staying longer than a weekend. Here are a few top picks for homes, condos and apartments for temporary accommodations.

  1. There’s a one-bedroom apartment right in the heart of the Old Market (11th and Howard streets). It’s pet-friendly, too. 10-star rating on Booking.com. Parking is not included
  2. There’s a two-bedroom condo in the Blackstone District (38th Street) with a great patio. 10-star rating on Booking.com.
  3. There’s a three-bedroom home near the zoo on VRBO!
  4. There’s a three-bedroom townhome on VRBO in a prime location in the Old Market, and it has two King-bed suites and a garage.
  5. There’s a four-bedroom home within walking distance to the zoo on VRBO.
  6. Need lots of space? VRBO has a listing for a six-bedroom mansion in the historic Gold Coast neighborhood, near Joslyn Castle and within walking distance to Blackstone District.

Are there any unique places to stay in Omaha?

So you don’t want to stay somewhere typical? I get it. Here are a few of the city’s more unusual options:

If you’re willing to drive a bit, there are even more cabins and unique options just outside of Omaha, too!
