30+ Fun Things To Do In Omaha In June

Summer around these parts means parades, FREE festivals and carnivals, and lots of live music. Check out some of the kid-friendly and fun things to do in Omaha – and nearby cities – this month:

Santa Lucia Italian Festival

41st Annual Omaha Summer Arts Festival

When: June 5-7; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Farnam Street 10th to 15th streets

Carter Lake Community Parade And Festival

When: June 6

Where: Mabrey Park, 17th and Willow Drive, Carter Lake, Iowa (parade is around town)

Wildlife Encounters

When: June 6, 1 to 2 p.m.

Where: Millard branch of Omaha Public Library, 13214 Westwood Lane

Living History Weekend

When: June 6 and 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Fort Atkinson State Historical Park, 201 S. Seventh St., Ft. Calhoun, Neb.

Cost: Park vehicle permit required; $2 per adult & $1 for children is required for the Visitor Center.

 

Countryside Village Art Fair

When: June 7

Where: Countryside Village, 87th and Pacific streets

Cost: FREE

 

Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

When: June 7, 1 to 6 p.m.

Where: Elmwood Park, 802 S. 60th St.

Cost: FREE

 

Kids at the Kastle: Kickoff To Summer

When: June 7, noon to 4 p.m.

Where: Joslyn Castle, 3902 Davenport St.

Cost: $5, includes tour of castle (tours are at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.), face painting, games and princess story time

 

Dog Day Afternoon

When: June 7, 1 to 4 p.m.

Where: Lake Cunningham, located along 96th Street with entrances at State Highway 36, State Street, 96th Street and Rainwood Road

Cost: $7 per family in advance, $10 per family at the door; benefits the Nebraska Humane Society.

Tip: Dogs are welcome!

Zydeco Festival

When: Saturday, June 27, starts at noon and ends with fireworks
