Exciting News From The Neighborhood Offshore + Giveaways

Guess who’s back with another outdoor adventure for you? The Neighborhood. Offshore Outfitter! Remember when I first told you about this great Omaha small business?

Omaha’s own outfitter has started a Mommy and Me class series.

NBHD’s Moms Loves Groms program helps moms and their kids connect through outdoor playtime and ends with age-specific sessions of either stand-up paddleboarding or Mommy and Me yoga.

The idea is to give you and your little one (or not-so-litte one) a dose of Vitamin N{ature}. Led by Kwin, the outfitter’s director of youth programs and mindfulness, the classes are curriculum-based but casual and fun.

“Our main goal is to encourage adults and children to get outside,” said Kristen, the owner of NBHD, told me.

Head over to NBHD’s website to read about the first set of Moms Love Gromsclasses that begin May 18.

Grom (n.): A young participant in extreme sports. Originally, a grom or grommet was a surfer under the age of 16.

Each class is 90 minutes and includes movement activities and relaxation, and ends with either yoga or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), depending on the age group. Classes are $30 each or sign up for the entire five-class session for $125. The price is per mom, not per kid, so if you’re like the Old Lady Who Lives in a Shoe, all your kidlets are covered.

Excited yet? Sit tight. I’ve got a giveaway coming up for you at the end of this post!

How Do You Get Your Vitamin N?

The Neighborhood. Offshore offers many ways for you to get active and outside – in other words, ways to get your Vitamin N{ature}. Their mountain bike rentals (Trek X-Caliber bikes) are still going strong, as are the SUP Yoga classes held in partnership with Sweat, Cycle & Soul.

As the only BOGA paddleboards dealer in the state, they offer SUP Yoga, SUP lesson and rent the equipment for your own adventure. Can’t do anything without your dog? They have SUP paddleboards to accommodate for you and your furbaby.

The Neighborhood. Offshore is just about to open a shop at Cunningham Lake. Visit there starting May 5. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m., as well as any time you’ve scheduled a class with them.

What else is new?

Monthly Memberships – The Neighborhood Offshore sells monthly membership passes that get you free rentals on Tuesdays (bikes, SUP boards), as well as a discount to Moms love Groms classes and private SUP lessons. They also offer members-only Friday Fit Festivals twice a month at Lake Cunningham, a FREE event with beach yoga, SUP, a guided trail run – whatever strikes your fancy. The next Friday Fit Festivals are May 8 and May 29. They sound super fun, but from the looks of the advanced skills activities offered, it sounds more like “find a babysitter” fun.

Dog Day Afternoon – Head out to Lake Cunningham on June 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. for a fun, family-friendly event to support the Nebraska Humane Society. Activity stations will engage kids and fur kids! It costs only $7 per family in advance or $10 at the door – and pets are definitely welcome! You know you want to try Pup SUP or Doga.
